What seems a simple request could well turn out to be a disastrous outcome? However by following our set process of stakeholder interviews we were able to save the day for an enthusiastic restaurateur.

A Dumbwaiter Lift in a restaurant can be the main artery of business success if designed and specified correctly. In this case the owner thought a standard lift would solve his needs. However following in-depth investigations, we discovered the following expectations from the various stakeholders.

The chef wanted the lift to move hot food, four plates at a time. The plates are not standard size and required a larger shelf area than normal.

The head waiter wanted to move the dirty dishes piled high inside the lift. He also wanted lights to announce the arrival of the lift rather than bells as the restaurant area is sedate ambiance with the dumbwaiter close to the table layout.

The building had a head room constraint and hence necessitated either a machine room in the pit. (machineroomless)

Finally the dumbwaiter lift will travel three floors, the intermediate floor being the bustling wine bar. The bar manager expected use of the lift for shelf stocking, hence the need for a robust cab interior design.

A simple standard dumbwaiter lift would not have given the service expected by all the stakeholders and a poor investment would have been the result. D2E specified a product that contractors were able to supply, which ensured that the customers expectations were fully satisfied.
