New European Safety Code for Escalators - EN 115-2

Currently, it is estimated that there are more than 90,000 escalators and moving walks in operation across Europe. Until recently there have only been codes for the construction and installation of new devices (EN 115-1:2008) which does not cover the safety of any already installed units.
EN 115-2 was published in 2010 to review and improve the safety of existing escalators and moving walks. This code categorises risks and hazardous situations into high, medium and low whilst suggesting possible corrective actions.
