Façade Access Launched
April 2010
One of the leading lift and escalator consultancies, D2E International, has announced that its team of experts is to be joined by a pioneer in the field of facade access. The company can now offer a design service for cradle systems used to provide access to the sheer faces of multi-storey buildings or the walls of atria. Consultancy is also provided on proprietary systems and on maintenance and management regimes. Equipment testing, risk assessments and health and safety compliance will also come within the firm’s remit.
Stuart Bond will head up the company’s new division offering these services. Stuart has worked on many of the most prestigious construction projects of the last decade, including the Hearst Tower in New York, the Cube in Birmingham, Canary Wharf and the Rondo Tower in Warsaw. He is one of a very small number of international specialists in this field. D2E International is already engaged on a number of major lift and escalator projects with some of the world’s leading architectural practices, it anticipates being able to announce a number of significant instructions on new facade access schemes in the very near future.
The recent and proposed changes in legislation, European standards, EC Directives and the introduction of CDM Regulations have brought to the fore the need for a much more structured and informed approach to the provision of access and maintenance to the building fabric than has traditionally been the case. The new D2E service is designed to cater for this.
Consultancy principal, Bill Evans, points out, “in all things our firm can provide objectivity and independence. It will be the same with these valuable new services. Stuart’s prominent position in the industry means that he is constantly reviewing the latest options to become available and he already knows the existing options well.”
