Austen started his vertical transportation career in 1997 when he began an apprenticeship at Otis to gain an NVQ3 in lifts and escalators whilst concurrently studying for a National Certificate Part 2 in Electrical Engineering at Mid Kent College.

As London Escalator Team Leader, Austen left Otis after 11 years to offer his expertise to D2E.

At D2E Austen performs many essential on-site duties, spending a lot of his time conducting surveys and writing reports, as well as connecting energy meters for D2E’s unique energy survey service. Austen also is involved heavily in mannaging the lift and escalator portfolio for several high-profile Managing Agents.
