Austen served an Otis apprenticeship between 1997 and 2001 where he gained an NVQ3 in lifts and escalators while at the same time studying for a National Certificate Part 2 in Electrical Engineering at Mid Kent College.

After his apprenticeship he quickly worked his way up through the ranks as a Lift and Escalator Engineer to London Escalator Team Leader in the Leicester branch of Otis Limited before joining D2E.

His 11 years of experience working on various types of machinery doing repair and maintenance make him an important asset to the D2E team.

Austen is currently on a foundation course in Lift Technology at the University of Northampton
